FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGNS 2010
IADA’s AUTOPAC & DEAC FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGNS 2010
Through IADA’s Political Action Committee, AUTOPAC IADA supports pro-business, pro-dealer legislative candidates. This is an important election year in Idaho. The majorities governing both the state House of Representatives and Senate will be looking to expand their majorities in May and November when mid-term elections have historically seen dramatic shifts in the electorate’s perception and retention of incumbents. Idaho’s dealers need to be directly involved in these important contests because these elected officials regulate and oversee the activities of your industry.
In 2009, Idaho dealers contributed $11,350 to AUTOPAC to support state elected officials who are sympathetic to dealer concerns. This year’s goal is $17,000. AUTOPAC is instrumental in realizing the Association’s legislative agenda. Although we just finished the 2010 legislative session here in Boise there is no time to waste in preparing for 2011. IADA will be asking legislators to support its efforts to amend state law to protect dealers from unfair requirements imposed by manufacturers.
Contributions to NADA's Dealer Election Action Committee (DEAC) are also vital, as they help expand the automotive industry's voice in Congress. Dealers' donations are needed more than ever for both AUTOPAC and DEAC to ensure that Idaho dealers' interests are being represented to match the impact of their economic contributions to the state. A solicitation mailing outlining this year’s fundraising campaign for both AUTOPAC and DEAC will be sent to dealers in the near future. Upon receipt, bear in mind the importance of your participation.
Information on IADA’s legislative agenda or AUTOPAC can be obtained from IADA’s Executive Vice President Trent Wright.
